1. The major characters so far are Corrie, and her sister Betsie. The minor characters so far is Pickwick also known as Herman Sluring, father, Christoffes the father's assistant, Nollie another sister, and Willem Nollie's husband. The minor characters affect the major characters in many ways. Such as with Corrie and her father, they affect each other by being family, they love each other, and their relationship has gotten stronger after her mother died. Which is same with Betsie. Corrie and Betsie's relationship with Herman Sluring is pretty good, they are close. They gave him a nickname, even though the nickname is for looking like a drawing of the dickens, they still like him because he is a very kind and generous man.
2. One decision i disagree with is why the doctor would let a little girl test for high blood pressure because she could have done it wrong by making a mistake then it would totally ruin the results and screw them all up and she could have thought her blood pressure was fine when it wasn't! Another thing i disagree with is why the father hired Otto without asking questions about him because maybe Otto was actually a bad person and stole some of the watches.
3. This story changes my thinking in many ways, because i didn't know that more than Jews were being persecuted. I also didn't know that That WWII and the holocaust were equally as terrifying. Another thing i learned is that more than just Germany was involved in it, a lot of other countries were. This book also helped me to see how it really was back then and a true story of a person lived through this, and to me that's amazing.
You have good perspectives on relationships between characters. I agree with your opinion about the little girl testing for high blood pressure. Why would that be a safe way to handle it? Very scary decision.
We often think of WWII as only affecting the Jews and Germany. I'm glad you are seeing that more countries and people were affected by all that went on. Carrie ten Boom was one strong girl - how hard to live with all those memories.
